Faculty of Fisheries



Educational Institution all across the world are implementing different Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in order to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of different academic, administrative, research and extension related activities. Nowadays the process of learning has included learning using different means of Information & Communication Technology has become a new norm which has resulted in rapid increase in the investments made by different educational institutions in ICT and related services. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is a very helpful tool for providing good governance to the Faculty and its associated Divisions which brings change in the working of an Educational Institution. The ICT Lab was established in 2013 as a constituent unit of Dean’s office of Faculty of Fisheries, SKUAST-K in order to establish a platform where the students in general and faculty members in particular will leverage from the investments made in establishment of the unit. The main focus of ICT lab at Faculty of Fisheries is to help students in understanding a technology in order to ignite them to apply the ICT as a facilitator in their corresponding domains.The ICT Lab, FoFy has 15 (fifteen) computers All-in-One systems (i3, 4GB RAM, 1TB HDD with licensed Windows 10 Operating System)

Internet connectivity

In order to stay connected across the globe through cyber space the Faculty of Fisheries has two internet links 
  • 15 Mbps link 
  • 06 Mbps link (Alternate Link)
The Faculty of Fisheries campus is the only campus in the university with is connected to headquarters through radio frequency RF link in order to stay connected with Agricultural Research & Information System (ARIS), SKUAST-K.The FoFy, Administrative block has fully functional LAN which enable all the users within the FoFy, Administrative block to stay connected with the firewall which is stationed at ICT Lab,, FoFy.The boys hostel at Faculty of Fisheries, Rangil Ganderbal is Wi-Fi enabled where 02 access points have been installed on each floor of the Boys Hostel.  The internet connectivity to the boys hostel is facilitated with a state-of-art fiber connection from boys hostel, FoFy to ICT Lab, FoFy.In order to leverage from the investments made in ICT infrastructure a separate power backup (05KV inverter) for smart classrooms, an online UPS 05KV for providing uninterrupted power supply to all the network equipment like switches, firewall and other related equipment installed has been functional.  

IT Infrastructure

All the classrooms at Faculty of Fisheries are equipped with smart classroom equipment which works as a facilitator in the learning process

Conference Hall

A well equipped conference hall where approximately 300 participants can assemble. The conference hall is equipped with Audio system which works in tandem with 04 LEDs which have been installed to enable participant to view the proceedings at any place in the conference hall.

Seminar Hall

The seminar hall at Faculty of Fisheries, SKUAST-K facility that is created to facilitate students in order to deliver their seminars, presentations, credit seminars, thesis presentations and other student related activities. The seminar hall is equipped with different ICT infrastructure like a LED TV, a computer and a podium.

Meeting Hall

The meeting hall at Faculty of Fisheries, SKUAST-K facility that is created to facilitate student activities like group discussions, presentations, interaction with dignitaries, one-to-one interaction with eminent academicians and other related activities. The meeting hall is also used for different events of the faculty like workshops, interactions, meetings etc. The meeting hall is equipped with the following ICT equipment:

  • LED TV
  • Audio System   ( 01 chairman unit  &   20 Sub Units )
