Veterinary Pathology

The Division of Veterinary Pathology is a constituent part of the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir. Pathology is an integrative discipline that looks simultaneously at the whole organism and its component cells, tissues, and molecules to study the causes and mechanisms of diseases. The discipline serves as a bridge between basic biomedical and clinical fields. Thus, the Division of Veterinary Pathology is dedicated to the study of disease at fundamental levels, as well as to the application of that knowledge. The activities in the Division are closely integrated across the spectrum of clinical care to basic research. The research is laboratory-based as well as involve interfaces with field and clinical studies, and other disciplines. The research activities focus on the causal factors of disease and at the development of new knowledge to elucidate disease processes, means for disease detection and identification, and factors responsible for disease dynamics in a population. An integrative approach is seminal for translation of research findings into patient care.  The Division offers programs of graduate instruction as per the prescribed norms of Veterinary Council of India as part of B.V.Sc. & A.H. degree programme. The Division, also, offers research leading to the degrees of Master of Veterinary Science and Doctor of Philosophy in Pathology. These degree programs provide the opportunity for coursework of suitable breadth and depth within the major fields in conjunction with research experience in an area of interest.
