The mandate of the Division is Teaching, Research and Extension.

Teaching:

  • Imparting Resident Instruction programme to B.V.Sc & A.H degree programme in accordance with the VCI regulations.
  • Imparting education and training in M.V.Sc and Ph.D degree programmes in the field of Veterinary Public Health.

Research:

  • To carry out surveillance regarding various zoonotic diseases prevalent in the region and their prevention and control strategies.
  • To ensure safe food for human consumption by routing the sources of contamination form primary production till its consumption.
  • To study the molecular epidemiology of zoonotic and food-borne pathogens to prevent their spread.
  • To ensure environmental hygiene in general ad water hygiene in particular to prevent waterborne diseases.

Extension:

  • To create awareness in the masses and particularly in stake holders for prevention of hazards coming from animals and its products.
  • Diagnostic and consultancy of the farmers is also provided.
  • The extension of one health framework for effective control of diseases.
  • Trainings and awareness programmes to Veterinarians, paravets and other stake holders.
