Veterinary Public Health


The mission of the Division of Veterinary Public Health is to serve the livestock sector in general and people in particular by finding hazards that may be associated with animals and their transmission to humans through research, education and awareness. The mission of the Division is:

  • To impart education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the area of Veterinary Public Health.
  • Disease surveillance, risk analysis and forecasting of important zoonotic diseases.
  • Formulating strategies for mitigation and control of food-borne diseases at human-animal-environment interface.
  • To act as a connecting link between medical and allied sciences of Regional, National and International repute under the frame of One Health
  • Bio-control of food-borne hazards using alternate methods to reduce the use of food additives, pesticides and antibiotics in foods of animal origin.
