Veterinary Public Health


The Division of Veterinary Public Health is a constituent of the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir. Veterinary Public Health deals with the hazards that can come from animals into the humans and therefore the uplifment of the public health is utmost aim of the stream and thus acts as a connecting link between human and Veterinary Medicine. The research activities focus on studies of the zoonotic pathogens their surveillance and control, prevention of foodborne diseases particularly of animal origin. The molecular epidemiology of the infectious agents is studied to elucidate their source of contamination. The environmental hygiene to ascertain the pollution of water bodies etc.  The Division offers undergraduate programme as prescribed by Veterinary Council of India. The Division, also, offers degree programms of Master of Veterinary Science and Doctor of Philosophy in Veterinary Public Health.
